Live music now at ellenor

Gravesend-based ellenor hospice has received £6,200 from the Kent Community Foundation Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund. Ellenor will use the grant to work in conjunction with Live Music Now to help patients write, compose and create a celebratory song for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The final composition will be performed with the support of the musicians of Live Music Now at ellenor’s Jubilee Garden Party on June 1 before an audience of staff and patients. The song will also be professionally recorded and ellenor will create a video with patients to accompany the music.

The final song will not only allow ellenor to look back on this auspicious event for years to come, but will also produce a lasting memory for the families of the patients involved in the project and a piece of music that reflects the work done at ellenor.

The Let’s Create Jubilee Fund will ensure that thousands of people from communities across England will have the opportunity to take part in exciting creative events, all to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. From puppetry and storytelling, to wreath making, carnival and art trails, there will be a huge range of exciting activities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Andrew Lowden, Head of Operational Wellbeing at ellenor, said: “After working closely with some of the talented musicians at Live Music Now this year, we can’t wait to come together to create this song. The Queen has been such an inspiration to so many of us and given her passion for music, it seems fitting that we recognize her in this way.

“It is also an opportunity to show that hospices are dynamic, energetic and fun places to spend time, breaking some of the stigma that surrounds them, while offering our patients a unique opportunity to be part of something. something special.”
